I have a 1968 dime with no mint mark on it and it's an uncirculated coin in mint condition and I've been trying to find out if it is. I would like to ask if anyone could please help me with this here are some pics of the coin thank you very much
Your coin looks like it is from an Uncirculated set. Not a Proof Set. Some 1968,1970,1975,and 1983 "Proof" dimes without S mintmark were made in error.
It's a dime from Philadelphia worth 10 cents. They pick these business strike coins to go into these mint sets, but I don't see anything special in terms of condition about this dime. Maybe the packaging is obscuring it, but it's only worth a dime to me.
I know where you're coming from but there's one thing special about its condition. The mint made 424 million of these for circulation and virtually none of these is still pristine. Indeed, very very few even exist in grades over VF and only about 195 million still survive. The mint specially made 2 million for mint sets. These were made with increased tonnage by brand new dies. Of these only about 700,000 survive and most of these have mint set tarnish like the one pictured. I can't tell from the picture if it's a Gem or not but I can tell that there is a high probability that this one could be saved by a soak in alcohol. Most of these may never be saved because if this tarnish stays on the coin it comes to the point nothing takes it off. To me it's very special and there's a ticking clock that people can't seem to hear.
There are many words that could describe your coin but it's not so much a "No-S mint mark" but rather a "No-P mint mark'. It was made in Philly without a mintmark just like the other 427 million they made that year, probably.
