Just found my first RPM while roll searching Lincoln’s. This was VERY gratifying. An easy one to see. No guesswork and wondering if you really have anything - for a change!:cat:

    Happy Dance time!

Sorry for the typo on the thread title. RPM - not RPD. I was a bit excited….

Thanks! Not much monetary value and probably very common, but it just feels good to finally FIND an RPM. Kind of a milestone coin for me as I focus more on die varieties and errors. This one is going into a 2x2 and into my collection as a tiny little personal trophy coin to commemorate my “first find” of this sorta thing. :D

    Very nice find. Congratulations.
I'd get some Verdi-care on that right away. The corrosion is starting to take over.

Great minds think alike. I hit it with the Verdi-Care 10 minutes after I found it.

It’s uncommon to find a variety that’s worth a tidy sum. And then there’s the burden of finding a buyer. So the real ‘payout’ is in the search and discovery of one. It’s the process! It’s fun to find a variety but even better when it is one you’re searching for.

Well said. Been collecting since age 8, so I’ll always be a hobbyist first, but I am enjoying the errors and varieties searches. It takes me back to my youth when I used to collect nearly all of my coins from circulation.

Similarly, I got back into the hobby after decades away and started to learn about varieties and errors. It added a new dimension to the hobby for me. Finding varieties filled the long gaps between finding old coins during a CRH event. And many varieties and errors are more valuable too, albeit relative. Very few valuable, extrinsically speaking.

    Nice find!
One thing though? I never use staples. Just something to think about. I use scotch tape instead or "do it yourself slabs". ;)

I know. Many a coin ruined by a staple disaster, but I’ve never had one in 53 years of collecting, and I use the flat cinch staplers sold by the coin supply houses, so that helps too. Mostly I am just exceedingly careful with my stuff. Nothing wrong with the tape, though I do worry about off-gassing from adhesives that are not for archival purposes, so I still lean towards the staples. There’s no right answer, really. Everybody does what they are most comfortable with.
