I seem to read conflicting accounts, are the 68 Canadians 50% silver or not at all? It seems like some of each were circulated. any sure fire ways to tell - other than "taste tests" etc? thanks much.

Usually, you can tell just by comparing them (especially the circulated ones), the ones with silver look silver(flat) and the others look like the nickel ones (shiny).

Both are attracted to a magnet, so that can't be used as a way to determine the difference.

    1968 silvers are not magnetic.

    Weight is different.
    Silver: 5.83 grams
    Nickel: 5.07 grams

on a related note do you have any info on the 2000 commemorative quarters that canada minted? I have a "health" coin i found in circulation and can't tell if thats the silver or nickel minting. not sure about silver % content, but would you think the same weights would apply?
