Hi, I am new to CoinTalk, but I found an interesting coin and wanted to find out if anyone had any ideas as to whether it is an error coin or got these markings some other way. I've dabbled in coin collecting for years, but I have never run across something like this. I would write it off as just scratches but they are far to uniform. Any thoughts. Post mint damage. It looks like someone started to design a necklace or ring or other piece but gave up

PMD. Reminds me of a Spiral Graph design. Why? Who knows. How? Who knows. But a neat conversational coin that I'd hang on to.

Welcome to CT @jaegar and thank you for posting Full Image photos. :)

Not a mint error. It's been damaged just like the fancy scroll work on this coin, which I own. Yours may have been the start of a lovers piece that they gave up on. It may just be someone that was bored and had nothing to do.

    Welcome to CT.

Thanks, everyone. I was inclined to believe that was the case. I'll hang on to it...if nothing else, it is an interesting coin.

If you’re into it for 10 cents you’re good
