1966 Lincoln Penny Reverse Error?? I found this in my roll hunt. Reverse is domed, despite the picture you can still mostly see the reverse detail, however the building is slightly raised but the back is almost completely smooth. Any information you can provide would go a long way. I have no idea if this is a mint error or if its modified. Also any estimates on potential value. Thanks again apologies in advance for the crappy pictures
It's some form of post-strike damage. I can't tell exactly how it was done from the pictures, but it was definitely done after it was struck.
looks like a few coins I've found stuck in the road .... the coin is stuck in the road tar and then cars run it over for a period of time ...get the tar off the coin with gas, nail polish remover .... one side is protected from the tar and other side gets the abuse from the tires.. what is the black stuff near "trust" ?? Snowman
Just trying to visualize how this would happen though, if it was worn smooth I'd understand but its convex. It also still weighs 3.1 grams. I'm sure I'm missing something, and my knowledge is admittedly limited. Thanks for your input so far
It appears to have been struck through a heavy layer of grease. I can't tell from the photos, but are the rims present on the reverse? Also, is the coin's diameter normal?
I don't believe the rim was present, I'll check when I get home on both the questions so I'm not giving inaccurate information. I'll also try to get better pictures
