hi all i have a 1966 kennedy half dollar and the faced is popped out like raised very high and the back u can see some of the details but the face u can also see the details of the face in back where the eagle suppose to be but its all pushed up toward the front my picture is to big for me to post lol....i don't know how to resize it but its very detailed
ok i am so sorry.. i am not very good with punctuations and my spelling is off,..again i appologise. ok i am trying to upload the pics..
hi what does that mean post mint? and u mean someone deliberately did that to the coin or is it where it was made? i have new brighter pictures i will post
The mint is where coins are struck. "Post" meaning "after" in this case, post-mint means (yes) someone deliberately altered the coins appearance after it was struck at the mint.
ty so your saying it came from the mint so would it be worth anything you think?..I appologise if i sound numb but this is my first time i ever do anything like this my husband and i are researching his old coins..lol...thx for replying to me.
It is a novelty piece at this point. Maybe you could get a few dollars for it on eBay, but I am not promising anything.
Well, what he is saying is that the coin came from the mint undamaged. Then someone decided to show off their metal working skill by taking this coin and hammering out he image. Worth saving as a converastion piece, but no value other than fifty cents (if you could get anyone to take it... I'd love to see the look on a bank teller's face when you presented this coin to them!)
ok ty ty very much but if that was done by hammer like you say they must be really good because i see no scratches or dents...lol...ty for your time
