Heres the 1966, it has some sort of a rim issue.(collar clash?) And it has a weird anomaly going on next to the F in OF, looks like a foreign chunk of metal.......what kind of errors do we have here??? And here is the biggie, a 1990 kennedy still in the OGP, same error as the above pictured coin except its way bigger, more noticeable and in a prime focal area... it almost looks like a chunk of the die broke off and was struck into the coin... thoughts? l
I say yes to Collar Clash. Also known as a Double Rim or False Rim. Collar clashes are best seen in reeded issue coins such as your Kennedy. I want to share these webpages with you - http://www.coinworld.com/insights/_double-rims_-and-false-rims-arise-in-many-circumstances.all.html and http://maddieclashes.com/collar-clash.html The 1990 could be a Lamination on the Obverse and maybe a slight MAD, Misaligned Die, on the right side
And since your are a VAM addict I'm sure you have seen this webpage I want to share with you - http://www.vamworld.com/Collar+Clash
Thank you for the input and helpful links! i dont know what to make of the mint set kennedy but it blows my mind to think noone noticed the huge "chunk" in front of his nose for 25 years until now. My daughter purchased this @ a show for $1. She is 12 and obviously has a good eye, although a blind man probably would have noticed this one.
