You may get a chuckle out of this.
I had two sandwich size zip lock baggies full of silver dimes, which I was painstakingly going through individually , with a 10X loupe, looking for a 1964D, or a 1942. I was saying the dates to myself, not really out loud, as I was doing this. Having found no 64D, I put them all back, and went on line to some different coin sites. I came across one site that was called "Pocket Change Lottery" . It was about finding change in your pocket worth millions, (exaggeration). Well, one of the high dollar coins was a 1965 dime, that was silver, but was not supposed to be, or something like that. So, my memory bank tells me there was one in the dimes I just went through, having said the dates to myself while going through them. So, I get the bags back out, and go through them all again, never finding the 65, a lot of 56, so, maybe I transposed the numbers in my "math dyslexic" mind.
What would be the odds of coming across a 1965 silver dime in pocket change??

Id say the chances of finding anything WORTH millions in pocket change, let alone a 65 silver dime, are about 1 in 300,000,000,000. The chances of finding something worth 2 dollars in pocket change is about 1 in 1000. Just thought id mention that.

I don't even know if there is such a thing.
    Weigh it.
A sliver dime weighs 2.50 gms.
A clad dime weighs 2.27 gms.

It is possible because the mint produced 1964 dimes through 1967 in order to make the general public think that there were so many silver dimes in circulation that horading them was not necessary. The plan was to buy the mint time to pull silver from circulation before the public did. Their plan failed.

This action may have produced a 1965 silver dime. At least that is the idea.

Good luck to you, I hope you have found one. If not always be on the look out. I still find 64 dimes on occasion today.

The 1965 silver dime is a true story, according to several sources I've read. It is worht thousands not millions. Of course the chances are almost zero.
