Find this beautiful thing coin roll hunting. I know that 1950-1965 proof nickels don't have a mintmark. I'm thinking this is a proof. Any input?

It looks better in hand. The pictures may not do it justice (iphone 4)

It doesn't look like a proof, but if it were, the photos did not help at all.

Well, that's a pretty easy one -- no proofs minted in 1965, right?

The only coins in sets were the SMS - Special Mint Sets which were just reasonably polished newer dies that would not qualify as proofs. The mint had a created "emergency" from 1964 until 1967 in which no proofs after 1964 were minted - only the SMS coins. I got an SMS quarter from 1965 at the bank a couple of years ago.

I just purchased a 1965 SMS nickel last week (PCGS SP67). That could be one also.
