First, welcome to the neighborhood, Melinda! As others have said, that is FDR. Lincoln is on our penny. There are tens of thousands of die chips and die cracks, that might be called Mint errors, but they aren't really worthwhile. In any case, your dime is only worth face value because someone has damaged it intentionally. Note the flat spots on the rim at 3 & 9 o'clock.
I agree with Die Chip on Franklin Delano Roosevelt's mouth.. For some reason that is a common place for Die Chips.. Here is an example from my collection..
Nah.. It's interesting but small Die Chips really don't have a premium. I just picked up the slab I showed you because it was interesting. They did it because it was on a silver Dime I guess.
Interesting, put it in a 2x2 and keep it. It may not be worth much but it would make for good conversation. Thanks for posting it.
Mr. P., why don't you give Melinda an idea of the comparative values. How much does it usually cost to have a coin like yours graded and attributed? What did it cost you to buy your coin in the NGC slab?
