I have a 1965 dime and it has some odd features first it looks as if there is a split between both sides the edge is smooth for the most part but you can see that some places look normal. Inside the split you can see the copper center but this dime is smaller than a normal dime, it also feels much lighter. It doesnt have a mint mark the (p) is non existent visually the dime is in good shape but is oddly different. The crack around the band is puzzling it doesnt look as if it was tampered with but struck this way. Does anyone have any idea about this dime.
If you could post a picture it would be very helpful. It sounds like post mint damage but you never know until some of the experts here have a look. Also, the 1965 coins didn't have mint marks.
I just found and stup this account I am trying to post a pic or 2 but am having some difficulty I will definetly get some pics on here to see what it may be.
I usually use a photobucket account to post my pictures, do you have one? If not, send me a PM and I'll try and help you get them posted.
What you have is probably a spooned coin. It is possible your dime got inside a fin in a commercial clothes dryer and got tumbled around over and over and over and over and over until the edges rolled up. Does your coin look anything like the one I have?
