Just got a 1965 Canadian Quarter in change...pretty neat especially because this was in Connecticut, USA!

Anyone else get silver from other countries in change?

Yes, I got a 1960 Canadian dime just last week. Also got a 1938 five cents coin with GVI on it from a teller at my bank. My experience with finding older Canadians seems to be that people do not look at or seemingly care too much about them. I have gotten a decent handful of GVI cents and five centers. But I also have about a dozen or so GV cents that I have gotten from change finds in the past few years.

  5. So far, I've found 12 silver Canadian quarters in circulation, most in the reject bins of coin counters. They seem to hate Canadian quarters, but I don't mind.

I enjoy finding the older cents and nickels from circulation, particularly since I scored an EF 1925 GV cent from a roll search last year. It is my most valuable roll search find so far, eclipsing older Indian cent finds, errors etc in value. It is fascinating, I usually get the newest change from Canada - I see the new years coins from Canada long before I see the USA coins. But I live close to the border, and near a shopping outlet that caters to Canadians taking advantage of their dollar being high vs. the US$. But as a result I see even twoonies from circulation - some places will take them and quite a few more take Canadian paper money.
