I was talking to my grandma about 2 weeks ago that lives out of state. I'm 21 so she asked me what do I do on my spare time and I told her that I am collecting coins as a hobbie etc. She told me that in the 60's that she collected JFK half dollars and she had them in coin tubes locked away in another room in the house. I didn't know she was going to send them to me but I got them yesterday.

    This is what I got

    48 - 1965
    36 - 1966
    53 - 1967
    32 - 1968
    15 - 1969

I'm just wondering does any of these contain any silver? If so how much would they be worth just for the silver content alone? I don't want to sell any of them but I just want to know just incase they do have any silver in them.

Those halves all have 40% silver in them. A roll with any of those dates will run around $40.00. Hope that helps.

Yep. All 40% silver, and currently have between $1.50 and $2.00 of silver per coin.

    184 40% silver halves.
    Silver at $13.50 an ounce
    Melt value = $367.37

You should buy grandma a nice thank you card for that free gift.

40% silver but you might want to look at http://www.coinfacts.com for such basic information. Either that or pick up a Red book :)

    Congrats BTW!

Give your grandma a nice mother's day/grandma's day gift here in May. Nice coins and yes they are silver clad.
