You need to be more specific in what you see, you can't just box things and expect that we will know what you are talking about. As of right now, I am seeing a damaged coin.
Would take a lot of damage to make a cent look like a dime. All I see are several hits on the coin. On the 9, between the E and D, on the O in OF etc. Hey your right he has put boxes on the coin. Not noticeable unless you blow up the image quite a bit. I don't see anything in the boxed areas.
Well, I am seeing some double again, slight as it is, but seems there is some split serifs, look in the boxes and hit your invert button
If there was some doubling on this dime, it would be too minor to be concerned about. I would find a whishing well some where and throw it in. Larry Nienaber
Wait, hold the phone. I changed my mind about the 4, that looks like DDD. The D in God shows def. notching.
I had no trouble seeing what he was identifying. If you know cent errors pretty good, a person should be able to tell what the OP is trying to show us. MD on the reverse for 1,which he was wondering if it was DD. The obverse he is pointing out more places he sees doubling. I get it. The reverse is not worth worrying about. The obverse shows minor doubling, but like atrox101 said it is minor.
It always helps when someone puts into words what they are seeing. I'm not seeing any notching, and there ARE some boxes on the reverse, so obviously the OP is seeing something there as well.
words words words Obverse - Clockwise from the B in liberty. what is that extra band of stuff on the B all about? Looks like a notch in the R. Looks like a notched Y. 6&4 look doubled, looks like a notch in the 4. Our trusty god looks doubled and I see notches. LI, more doubling with notches/splits. Reverse- That stuff looks double the under is north of the over. Do we not see this? Admittedly it is minor, but please confirm its existence. I understand that most doubling is basically worthless, and most collectors are interested in ONLY DD. I also understand that minor spread DD is also not worth much, but at least I claim it exists, right?
IMHO it exists on your cent, obverse DD. Yes, there is damage and wear, but the doubling is very clear on most of the devices on the obverse.
That D is not damage, it's not DDD, which leaves the obvious. This OP has found a minor 10 C DDO. As far as the B you mentioned...? Whatever that is on it, is over top of the B. It erases the field underneath so its not dirt or damage. To me it looks like......I don't know what it looks like.
Uh, yeah. I see a coincidental hit to the top serif (looking at the coin, after all, does reveal some damage). If it were a true notch, it would not be isolated the one D in the motto. That's not how doubled dies work. It would show splits/notches on more than just one letter, which it does not. edit: seeing where you pointed, I don't see how you can think it's a doubled die, the doubled area doesn't even look raised.
I know what a DD is, thank you. It is not isolated to the D, if it were I would not have wasted my time pulling up all the other devices.
Then could you tell me where else you see a doubled die? Because I'm not seeing it. This will probably be my last post in this thread, anyway...as it serves of no more use to me.
