1964 sms die pattern and mark

    1 came across this 1964D penny with the same die pattern And mark.what I know about die pattern and mark is like it's a fingerprint. Why would this 64D have the same die pattern and mark as a 64. I can understand the die but why would the polish pattern be the same if they was not from the same satin finish.

    Those are die polish lines, if dies clash they are usually polished to remove the evidence from the dies.
    By the way, the polishing lines are not the same.

    There are some similarities in the die polish but I can also enough differences that they can't be the same die. For example, look closely at the polish line that bisects above the 6. and on the larger pics, the heavy line that touches the right side of the 9 is at a slightly diff angle. Not the same

    BTW: Nice pics. They were easy to compare against the HA pics
