Will toning increase the value of this coin? I've had this coin for a year. I believe it's time to have it graded.
Well, if you want to spend 30-odd dollars to put a six-dollar coin into a details slab, sure. Those look like some pretty substantial scratches on the obverse. This kind of toning isn't going to add back much value, IMHO.
I agree with @-jeffB . Worth melt and nothing more. I've pulled 64 Kens out of circulation that have better toning and are in better shape than the one pictured and still wouldn't come close to considering having them graded.
The more time I spend here the more picky I get about picture orientation and what I am willing to look at....
