That sucks and thank you. Even being a proof, it is in almost flawless condition. My pictures don't do it service, any flaws perceived are on the plastic cover...thanks for the reply.
When my 68 returns, I will post pics. I believe it will be a PR69 or better. It is uncirculated and has full steps. This one I'm posting now is not mine, it is a pic from PCGS as an example.
Finding a 1964 full step nickel like finding a needle in a hay stack.....next to impossible even though it was one of the highest mintages in US nickel history. The op image is a proof not given FS designation.
Ahh, I see. I got these Jefferson nickels (61-P 64-P and 69-S) from an estate sale with a bunch of other coins, they are uncirculated and basically flawless. I'm hoping to getthem certified in a top grade and to put them up for auction eventually. I am just starting and still learning the ropes.. I also have a 1902 Indian Head uncirculated from same estate, think I'm keeping that one though!
If these are proof, and I do think the 1964 is, the premiums aren't that high. Grading fees at around $20-$25 per coin would eat away most of the profit. The PCGS price guide on these in the grade of PR69 is: 1961 - $100 1964 - $25 1968-S - $15 If any of the 3 are designated Cameo or Deep Cameo the premium would increase substantially, especially the 1961. However, only the 1968-S appears to have any Cameo properties.......and of course it is the least valuable of the 3. Would like to see better photos though.
As a Jefferson collector I can assure that they are not worth the fees to grade, then trying to recoup your investment not going to happen. I have rolls of unc and proof nickels and I give them away . I paid off a car with rolled searched Jeffersons that I had at home before I got married....now understand there are Jefferson worth some big money. But they are not the dates you say you have.
When I get home I will take better pics. (If my other half didn't ship them today). The 61 seems to have a gun metal blue patina to it, I'll try to get better pictures. I haven't taken them out of the holders (hesitant) at all. The 61 seems to have a rather dark or gun metal blue patina to it and the mint mark seems strange to me. then again, I'm am pretty inexperienced and just learning.
I have submitted the online PCGS form, I don't know if they were shipped out. 50/50 chance my hubby sent them or not....
