i think your coin is too worn to tell.

First of all IHC's were discontinued in 1909, I think you mean 1864, and I'm sorry that I mentioned this but it was bugging me. 2nd, your coin is too worn to tell in photograph, or even in person... The chances that you had one are very slim so I would'nt worry too much about it.

When the coin is as worn as it is now you need to look at the point of the bust. The first pictures in NOT and 1864L though the 2nd pictures is to blurry to tell.

actually think you are right, the first one is without l, the second is with l, although the l is long gone.

FML, still to blurry on the blow up is the front of the bust pointed or rounded (above the 1 in the date) if its is pointed then it would be an L

Sorry about it being blurry technology is my downfall i am lucky my son is helping me. It is pointy compared to the first one but i was questioning whether or not it needs to be cut off pointy or sticks out and is pointy at the end

As par for the course, I'm completely confused.

The first one is rounded bust -- no L.
the second is too blurry, but looks the same.

Consensus is that your first coin is the no-L variety. The second coin is worn enough that if is is the with-L variety, the L itself will have worn off and so we have to look at the tip of the bust as the key diagnostic. In coins that worn, it will appear somewhat pointy -- definitely pointier than the no-L bust, which almost seems to flare out a bit before rounding off. Your picture is, as others have pointed out, too blurry to tell for sure from, but it does appear to me to be the with-L variety. We'll need better pictures to confirm, but that's what it looks like.
