I found it in a coinstar reject tray along with $0.85 and a blank penny planchet.I want to know what possible value I might have if it proves to be authentic. Also anyone know if I could possibly authenticate it without a digital scale because I lack one, any thoughts??Ps hey guys I am back after four months of no internet!
I think we can rule out a cent or a dime. Maybe he found a quarter struck on a nickel planchet. Inquiring minds want to know.
A nickel planchet would not fit inside a collar for dimes. As Matt points out it can only be a coin with a larger diameter. (That is why I said above: "I think we can rule out a cent or a dime.")
I hope it's not a nickel. I've seen a lot of 1964-D nickels and believe it or not they were all struck on nickel planchets.
Maybe it was a '64 Dodge. Does the blank planchet have an upset rim? If not, it is just a blank and those are very hard to prove that they are from the Mint. Chris
I found one of these struck on a cent planchet! OP- C'mon, bud, we're all in desperate need of some photos so we can further evaluate your coin!:dead-horse: -Brian
Sorry to keep everybody waiting pictures will be coming later this week problem I lack a digital camera solution I'm going to my friends house on friday he has a digital camera! Lol to those who cannot read, it was a nickel blank and it somehow found its way into a quarter die, its dated 1964. Yes the penny is rimmed theeof authentic and worth what $4?? But what I want to know is what's the quarter worth?
