My father-in-law put away 50 Canadian dollars, 64, (Charlottetown, Quebec) when they were new. I suspect that some would qualify for uncirculated, some might fall to AU. There is mint luster on all coins, but enough bag marks, etc., that I doubt if very many would qualify for BU. Perhaps a few.

I could probably come up with a roll of 20 that are uncirculated.

I am thinking to sell them off, curious what you think a roll is worth. I think these are common dates, right? I asked once before on another site, and was told "bullion value," nothing more. I'd hate to sell a roll for melt values. Any ideas on values? I think these are 80% silver.

How would you sell them? eBay, as rolls? I don't have time or the inclination to sell them off as singles, besides, fees too high.

Yes, thay are .800, each containing 0.6 oz silver. 7,296,832 were minted. In UNCIRCULATED (MS60) they are worth bullion value, or $10.80 with silver at $18.01/oz.

It's a lot of work to send to eBay for bullion prices. I can get these prices downtown at the bullion shop. Thanks for the info.

If you get enough posts you may be able to sell them in the "open" section here at CT...

    Yeah, that's better than melt.

On the other hand, they wouldn't melt them anyway. They'd sell them in rolls. Too pretty to melt.

Maybe I'll hang on to them.

I sold for melt some things last month. Felt odd. Five forks, five sterling silver knife handles. No big deal. But... some older French francs, a few mutilated war nickels, some Canadian dimes. I got too much old stuff with little or no collector value, and of no interest to me. But it felt WRONG to melt any coins. Not sure that I would do it again.
