1964,1963 uncirculated nickels

    i got this roll in trade for some other coins these coins look like proof type strikes any ideas on these are they worth grading them ,i am more into pennies any help thanks IMG-20140211-08305.jpg IMG-20140211-08306.jpg

    anything i should be looking for,i heard something to do with full steps..thanks

    It's hard to tell from the images if they are proofs, but it certainly looks like one. If it is, they should all have full steps. This would be normal of proof strikes simply by the method of manufacture as they are struck twice. I wouldn't recommend spending the dough to have them graded, the cost of grading would be more than the coin is worth unless you have some particularly high grade pieces. Since they were in a roll, I would guess that the absolute top grade that you would get is in the PR-65 range. If you have some deep cameo coins, it may be worth taking a shot on the one that you feel is the nicest. Remember that proofs are graded on a very tough scale and microscopic hairline can bring the grade down significantly. Very cool trade though.

    thanks kirkuleez i am just going to hold on to them for now i need to hold on to my coffee money before i go and grade these..cheers
