I recently got this bill out of a cash machine and was ready to pay for my skippers meal when my friend pointed out that it was a star note. I know nothing about these but he said they are really rare. I didnt spend it that night and still am holding on to it. My question is, is it really that rare and is it worth holding on to? That looks like a series 1963 San Francisco star note. They printed 1.28 million of them. It's worth more than face, but it's hard to tell how much based on the picture. The book I have lists this particularly note as $150, however it only lists the value in a high uncirculated grade...basically crisp as if it was new. Which, this note is not. A better picture would help a lot...but based on what I see...I'd say the right buyer might be willing to pay 1.5x to 2x face for the note or so (maybe even more if it's in better shape than it appears). So, I'm going to say $30 to $40.
