I found this at an antique store today. I was so surprised to see something this nice inside this little mom & pop store! I'm really interested to see what you guys would grade this at. I dont know if I should get it certified yet. Any comments would be appreciated. The scans dont do it justice-:kewl: 1962 P Washington Quarter
Washington quarters are so hard to grade, lol. I'll take a stab at maybe high AU? Think I see a little wear but not too sure. Maybe I'm seeing things and it would go MS, maybe 62 or 63. I'm hardly an expert grader, lol, but I'll say between the ranges of AU 58 and MS 64... let more expert people than I narrow it down for you. Looks nice at any rate.
Nice Find I have to agree with Troodon and say AU (about uncirculated), because it appears to lack any mint luster, but mostly because of were it was found. It appears to not have been protected from people holding and handling it. But it is worth more then a quarter because of it's silver content and the price of silver today. However, in order to get your $1.25-$1.50 you have to find someone willing to give you the money. I say keep it, save it, collect some more or give it to your Grandchildren before you die. Thirty/fourty years from today it will be worth considerably more. Most importantly perserve it now.
it looks like there is slight wear on the reverse, so I will say high AU. That date is quite common in that grade and it has a value of about $1.50. I have a similar one (AU58-MS64) in my set that I pulled out of my dealer's junk silver bin.
