HELP! 1962 proof DDO quarter I found this one in my collection after buying the Cherrypicker's guide Ok, quick question, i really need to sell coins to get out ofthe debt that most of you know about. Now before i make the same mistake i did with the merc, is this coin ok to list as the double die? My friend seems to think it is, but he said the same thing about the mercury, and my dealer says it looks like the one in the cherrypickers, but he doesnt do errors, so he doesn't know for sure. So, can i list this as the double die? And before i get this suggestion, no i can't get it graded because i don't have the money.
I lightened up your photo...can you attribute your quarter to anythiing listed in the CONECA listings? http://www.conecaonline.org/content/washingtondoubleddies19601962.html#_1962 Larry Nienaber
Should i send it to NGC or ANACS? in the cherrypicker's it lists at 350 in PF-66, and this is a pretty pristin ecoin, no doubt at least a 68.
Well look at it this way---If ANACS disagreed with you would it still be worth it? Also, the CPG's prices are normally alittle on the high side. Most of the variety they list might be so new that there hasn't even been any market "made" for that one yet...so value is normally going to be on the high side. Speedy
Well that is a hard one---I wouldn't post it AS the DD but I would add in the listing that it is believed to be the DDO but you can't guarantee it. If you can get some clearer pic's maybe we can help.... Speedy
Did you check the ribbon that it talks about? It also points to the tail of the R but I see more doubling on the back part of your R. While I think some of your coin does show some doubling, I'm just not totally sure that it is the same DDO from the CP's guide. Speedy
From the first pics I would have said that it was A doubled die, but I can't say that it is the one in CP because I don't have a CP and CP doesn't list everything that is out there. So it could very easily be a DD and not THE DD. I would also take the values in CP with a big grain of salt. After seeing the second set of pics I would say it is NOT a doubled die. So now I don't know what it is.
