I have a 1962 Proof cent graded PR69 CAM by NGC... I noticed this coin has a die rotation error. Not caught by NGC. I'm sending it in to PCGS to have it reholdered...but I suppose i have to send it in for variety service. The die rotation is on the reverse..the Lincoln Memoeial is about 70 degrees off center to the right. How much could this coin be worth? I mean I'how rare is a proof coin with an error such as this. Plus I do have a PCGS 64 Deep Cameo cent and this one may just get upgraded to deep cameo by PCGS. It certainly looks like it to me...super frosty devices amazing mirrors.
Die Rotation coins must be submitted to PCGS under the Error Submission Service at $50 a pop plus an $8.00 handling fee plus return shipping of at least $16.95. I think that NGC may be a bit cheaper and you'll be able to keep the PR69CAM grade. As for the value of the rotation, I have no idea.
1950-1964 Roosevelt Proof Silver Dime are one the most over looked US coin Re-grading can be tricky u can lose at times and hit one out off the park!
Conserning die rotations, I have some proof jefferson nickels that the Montecillo is rotated and im not to familiar with this type of error. Can anyone post a pic so I can confirm with mine or give a good discription so can make sure its what i belive it is?
As far as how off to be considered die rotation...the devices should be perfectly upright when the coin is flip over on a coin...if not it is a die rotation error.
hmm I wonder if I should get a few of my roosies reslabbed (46-s/47-s/49-d MS66 FT) that appear to have a die rotation. I have to double check that now.
Well PCGS will not reholder the coin unless they can meet or exceed the grade that NGC gave it. You just pay for shipping back to you.
15% or more. BTW, PCGS will reholder (as in crossover) any coin as long as it is genuine. The submitter can choose whether or not they wish PCGS to reholder it at a lower grade by specifying a "minimum acceptable grade". I recently had an ANACS AU55 coin dropped a full 5 points going into a PCGS Holder. As for error coins, submitters need to be absolutely sure that PCGS will attribute the error. Otherwise, they WILL put it in a PCGS holder, not designate the error (less than 15% rotation) and take your 50 bucks. No questions asked.
