1962 penny, what's under the D mint mark??

    image.jpg image.jpg I need help with this penny. It appears that something was partially stamped under the original mint mark. I took some pictures. They're not the best pics but hopefully good enough.

    Maybe struck through something? Maybe lamination? Maybe PMD? Tough for me to really tell without clearer pictures.

    PMD stands for Post-mint-damage and is generally not worth any premium.
    A lamination is a planchet defect originating when a portion of the coin metal separates from itself due to impurities or internal stresses. Lamination occurs primarily when foreign materials or gas oxide become trapped within the planchet. Sometimes, lamination errors can be worth a premium to the right collector depending on how great the lamination. A lamination sometimes looks like an extra piece of metal attacked to the coin or apart from the original place, or it may look like it may be missing some details on the coin.
