today i picked up a washington quarter from 1961, graded pr69 by igs for 7.50' is that a decent price, and is igs an ok service? thanks
IGS isn't part of the "big three", of PCGS, NGC, and ANACS. Could you post some pictures? Getting it for just under spot in that condition raises some red flags for me
Sorry, but IGS is about as useful as buying it raw. If it were ICG, it MIGHT mean something, but IGS is in the same category as SGS
Either way, if he got that coin for $7.50, it was a fantastic deal! Please post photos so we may be able to determine the authenticity.
i will get some asap, and whats wrong with igs? and the coin is beautiful, super shiny with just a little scratch on the right of washingtons head
Per PCGS; Yet, you say there is a light scratch on it. A shot in the dark (literally) I would guess MS-64. Anyone want to bet who is the closest?
Melt is 7.40... It's a very common coin, and if there is no cameo, then you paid for the silver, and a little to cover the holder. Not a 'deal', but not a rip off.
I've seen some IGS slabs on the net, seriously overgraded their items are. That's higher than what you could have bought one for. They hit around $2.50 - $3 raw.
Tell us where you can find 90% silver quarters for $2.50-$3 each today. I'll take 10000. Melt value for a 90% quarter is right around $7.40 at the moment. There's a local refiner that'll pay more than 25x face ($6.25) all day long.
