Bought this guy a few days ago for what I think was a good deal. What would you pay for it? I liked the toning on the front.
To be honest not much more than spot. Not knocking the coin. But as a collector who has a complete Franklin collection . They don't bring much unless FBL and higher grades. About two months ago a guy walked into a show I was working . He had a complete set all very nice coins. Not one dealer out of 25 there made an offer. So as a dealer if I needed the coin $25 tops. I truly wish this series would be more in demand. And I will add this I need the first two proofs to have a complete set of both unc. & proof coins. I won't ever complete the set. Reason the price to me is not worth it.
NGC Price Guide has that at $95. I know this, I wouldn't be selling it for $20-25. And I like the toning on it, too.
In FBL, this is an extremely tough date/grade. However, in non-FBL, that coin is *extremely* common (over 1500 graded), and very unpopular. Not many people want them. If you can find someone who really wants it, you might get $40-$50 for it, but it would be tough. If you liked it and wanted it, and it contributes to your set, then congrats and I'm happy for you.
$21 is a really good deal. I'm not actually a fan of the toning, but if it had toning I liked, I might go up to $40 or so. Maybe $50 if it was really nice toning.
