Okay everyone. This has been attributed by a well known coin expert. Does anyone have any other opinions about it? The coin is actually a very nice red. The reason it looks so yellow is because of the resizing to show the actual error. jeankay
Looks like a RPM, could be wrong though. Check out www.coppercoins.com for some info on RPMs for this date. Best of luck. :thumb: Phoenix
Checked it out for ya, looks like a 1961D-1MM-002 to me. But I could be wrong. Hope this helps! :thumb: Phoenix
As has been mentioned, looks like a nice example of the RPM for that year. What is it attributed as? What were you looking for opinions on?
1961D-1MM-001 rotated west tilted Alright, I'll tell. I just thought others would like a chance to do some research and see if they could find out what it is. According the the dealer the coin is 1961D-1MM-001 rotated, west tilted. I have two of these from the search of a bulk purchase of 2,500 bu cents I bought from an ebay dealer awhile back. There are some other different error coins from the same source. jeankay
jeankay, I was going to post that it is the 1961D-1MM-001 Variety but your answer beat me to it! I have this Variety as well and mine is a very high grade BU Red. This is a neat Variety and as far as my memory serves me, the only other Mintmark that is over a Horizontal Mintmark in the Lincoln Cent Series since the 1909-S/S Cent. Frank
Thanks for the great news... and congrats on yours! Maybe we have triplets here? Wow, it is better than I thought. No wonder the dealer wanted to buy one.Told him no, not this time. Sold him a filled number on a 2000 Lincoln once... if he hadn't offered a dollar for it, and I hadn't ignored him so he quickly offered two dollars for it... well, I would have given it to him because I found quite a few in the same roll. teehee Mine is also a very nice red... will try to post a different picture with the correct hue... It is an extraordinary coin, but has a lot of file marks, has some small dings and bag marks, but nothing I can see without at least a 3x glass. I usually use a 10x or 15x when I want to find these type of errors. My old eyes, even with my reading glasses just can't manage without some help. jeankay
Now, is everyone out to confuse me today? Gotta let you know, it is difficult to do just that. I also discovered from Coneca, BF Neff that it is Coneca Lincoln Cent 1961D RPM001. Guess I will need to get a larger sticker for my little case so I can get all three of these classifications written down. No sense in being prejudiced about it. ;o} jeankay
If BJ commented on your coin then it probably is. I would like to see a picture of the MM from the top view. Rhubarb
You are a taskmaster for sure. Do you mean an angle shot that shows the coin from the top, or do you want to see the entire coin? Or? jeankay
this one here is 1960D/D-1MM-001, which is the most visible of all Lincoln cent RPMs. From the experts I have talked to.
I am sorry Oldman, I didn't mean to 'sound' sarcastic. Actually I took a few more pictures at different angles and can get them ready for posting. The reason these are tilted in that manner has to do with the angle necessary to show the error in at its best. When I tried to rotate the image it kept getting smaller. Unfortunately these computer programs outsmart me on a regular basis. So I just keep plugging along and keep trying until I get something I recognize. I will try to get the other pictures posted real soon. Thanks for all the help. jeankay
This is the 1960D/D-1MM-001. Regardless of the angle you try to project the picture from, you should alway's take it from the top.(Or head on, usually Date and MM) The reason being, your picture will be compared to other pictures of a specified variety. Nice find:thumb: Rhubarb
Nice finds! It's always rewarding to come across something like that in a batch. Actually I'm surprised that your dealer wanted to buy one, most dealers don't seem to care about varieties.
Thanks coinlover! It is definitely a keeper. jeankay P.S. sorry the pics came through so big... gotta work on that part... again.
