A friend was settling an estate and came across something she thought I might be interested in. It's 48 pages, about 3 1/2" X 8", and as you can see by the scan, claims to be the first edition of the Charlton Guide. Pretty simple layout, covering all US and Canadian coins and bills in 48 pages (!). And you DON'T want to see the prices. Not interested in scanning and posting pages (the pamphlet is in very good condition). I know little about the ref material availbale in the early 60's but thought this was worth sharing. Does anybody have any info on the ref material available at that time? I think I'll send the scan to Charlton as well.. it's an oldie but goody.
Re: 1961 Guide I have the 1962 guide ... got it when I started collecting coins at 7 years old. Would be interested in purchasing a 1961 guide ... let me know1 Dan
Both the Charlton Guide series, and the Charlton catalogues are great series to collect. Some are pretty difficult to find. Hontonai, the book you show is from a different series than the ones the guys are sharing below. I am always more excited to find new copies of the charlton catalgues, but I will pick up any date, any series as long as the price is right.
Hi Treashunt, I have had a few expressions of interest in the booklet. I have told all interested parties that I will be ready to sell / trade it in a few months, and I'll let them know by PM. If you'd like to be included, just PM me, and I'll include you in the exchange. Other than that, I'm reluctant to use this forum for such a transaction. See you on the PM bulletin board. And yes, it is in excellent condition. It was literally owned by a "little old lady"... no notes, writing etc on the pages.
PM sent. And, no, you cannot use this forum for offers to buy or sell. Doug will get 'cha for that one.
