As a new collector, i only have 1 ncgs slabbed coin i got for free last monthand would like to slab the 2 sets. Is that a terrible idea in ur opinion? They are beautiful coins and only a spot or 2 of small tarnish on 1 or 2 coins.

The silver melt value of these proof sets are close to $19 each currently. Depending on the grades, these don't usually command too much. I wouldn't bother slabbing these (they're not worth enough to warrant such costs to slab), keep them in their original government plastic/packaging, most collectors (like myself) will spend more on them with the original packaging than broken out and slabbed.

Honestly, these sets are too easy to get and I think you went a little high spending $35 for each. If I'm going to spend $35 to $40, I'd spend that much on the uncirculated mint sets from these years where the value of silver double since you're getting both the Denver and Philly minted coins.
