This came out of some coins that my parents brought me on their visit about a month ago. If you all didn't know, I got cut off from my bank for boxes so I haven't had anything to search since the last week in June. This wasn't a bad find though. Especially since my parents got the coins in Nebraska.
I'll mail you some of my pocket change to keep you busy (for a few seconds). maybe we can get @lordmarcovan to pass his hat around for spare cent change
Why did you get cut off? If you don't mind my asking? I had quite the experience at my credit union the other day! I deposited some checks and asked for a few rolls of each coin and the teller told me no at first because she thought I was talking about the paper rolls I guess. Then she told me they aren't doing that any more and I said doing what anymore? Taking and giving members THEIR money!?? You ARE working at a credit union. Your job is exactly to do that of receiving or withdrawing money to the members.... Needless to say, her rudeness increased and so did my blood pressure! BUT I got my coins and her name and made a formal complaint to the main branch on my encounter with her. She had no idea what I want with those cents, nor is it any of her business lol it's my money. I'm not one to tattle tale and go to management about their sometimes horrible employees, but this was outright disrespectful and uncalled for. Hope she learns a lesson!!!
@Brittany Coe - I took a week off to go volunteer at my son's cub scout camp and when I called the following week to see if my order had come in I was told that the "regional manager" told the branches in the area to no longer order coin for members. The new regional manger was previously a manager at a branch who I had issues with before and she cut me off. The branch I switched to had zero issues ordering for me and we had a really good working relationship. I'm hoping she moves on soonish so I can "hopefully" start ordering coin again.
Saw you posted an ancient coin. Kind threw me. Was thinking how does he roll search and find ancient coins. Get back on the horse
If I could get boxes of coins from the bank I'd totally be roll searching. But my dealer cut me off...I still need a coin fix so I switched to ancients
Spare change from coin collectors, for searching? Is that like those "guaranteed unsearched" rolls on Ebay? Might as well jus drop them in the change jar.
it does go in the change jar. I don't search spare change. I don't search pennies, nickels, dimes nor quarters as of yet. No real interest unless it's early 1900s and earlier. The most I've done is I separate pennies by decade, and separate modern quarters vs the one's with the reverse eagle. I don't understand why people have strict definitions of coin collecting based upon their own collecting habit or what they perceive to be *everyone's* collecting habit. I have stuff I've store since the 1970s that I have not "searched" at all. I do have rolls and rolls of pennies from the 1970s, 80s and 90s that actually are "unsearched".
Yeah sometimes it get a little much. My mama left us girls jars of cents. 2 jugs of 72p is one year. It just wore me out. Checked about 500. Found a doubled die and quit. Should send to furryfrog now that he's jonesin. @furryfrog02.
Actually after all the daily cent bruhaha; a few months ago I nearly sent some of my rolls rolled in the 70s to a local expert (also here on CT). Then I lost interest again and never bothered. My dad hoards pennies too - since before I started. He's not a coin collector at all, just a habit I guess. My daughter takes pennies and uses them to make artsy things .. yeah, don't ask. Maybe I'll just take pictures of the rolls and stuff instead to drive furryfrog hopping crazy.
@furryfrog02. You cannot even get boxes of pennies? That is crazy. I've heard you can get some rolls from walmart. Not whole boxes but worth a try. Also, will some of the tellers not save you CWR that come in?
He could raid the local meijers/walmarts and get cent change for the mechanical kids horse and firetruck rides.
My point was, any change from a coin collector nwould already be searched, like thos "unsearched" eBay rolls.
