hello all i have a ? on this proof set i got the penny has what looks like camo/Frosted on lettering and date but not Lincoln. none of the reverse has the camo lettering and not sure of large or small date as well? i am taking pic's through the mint packing sorry if there is gare and most of the scratches are on packing as are the lines
Your cent isn't cameo. In fact the whole set doesnt appear to be cameo. They are just typical proofs. Nothing special. Your cent is a large date as well.
yes, i know the rest of the set is normal! but the lettering on the O of this penny is frosted/camo R is normal lettering appearance thanks for letting me know of the large date
Cameo on proof coins prior to the 70s(?) is kind of a die state thing whereas today every proof exhibits cameo. Back then it wasnt uncommon to see cameo on certain devices and not others. In fact it's kinda common to see more cameo on one side than the other. As proof dies aged and wore with every strike, the cameo would wear off as well. You have a typical 1960s plain jane proof.
thanks for explaining that that's what i was looking for is an explanation of whats this was if there was any!or if this was an error from the mint
