There's something about this coin that i love. I know it has a little nick on her cheek, but I'll take it. Also take a look at the Mint mark is it me or is it placed a little to close to the Eagle.

Mintmarks were punched into the dies by hand back then. There was an area anywhere within which it was OK to place the mintmark. I suspect the men punching the MMs at the branch mints were not quite as careful as those at the Philly Mint. The location of that MM looks pretty high but was probably fine.

Cool coin - nice original coin in my opinion. Looks like some come close and some farther away. I was looking on heritage. Very nice coin.

Well said! I don't think that the New Orleans mint in general did anything as well as Philadelphia!

    Did Philadelphia punch any mintmarks?

The mintmarks were punched into the dies at Philadelphia not the branch mints.

I'm lost here. Are you saying that the Branch mint coins had there letters punched in "at" the philly mint, then the die was sent to the branch mint? Philly coins obviously didn't have mintmarks back then, so this is a little confusing.

    thanks.

I've seen several of these with a high O mintmark. Seems to be more common than not.

The dies were all made at Philly and sent to the branch mints.

The New Orleans Mint would have been long defunct in 1960.
