Hi, Can someone tell me if this is a Double die Variety .This is not my coin in the listing, But I have one that is identical in every way. THANKS http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8366615900&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 ED
Welcome to the forum. The linked coin looks to me like it has mechanical doubling, not hub doubling. Charlie
I had seen this listing the other day as well and was shocked so many people had bid on it and how high the bid was. This is not a doubled die! Even his reference to The Best of The Jefferson Nickel Doubled Die Varieties page 27 explains it. Page 27 is not a listing for 1960 Doubled Dies but a general reference and explaination of die deterioration doubling.
Nothing wrong with selling them on ebay just be honest about it! In this auction the seller to his credit posted an email telling him and everyone else what he was selling and someone still paid $76.00.
With the knickle changing like It is,It just makes my collect of forty pieces of knickles dating back to I believe "31",includes wartime, alot of 40`s,a couple of "55",etc..should be worth somthing...huh?edited Thanks!
If you post the dates and mintmarks we might can help you with how much your set is worth. Most unless they are high grade are worth $0.05....check for the dates 1942-1945 and 1950-D. Speedy
