1960-D UNC Lincoln Oddity

    Came across this while rolling coins from a bag. Any ideas?

    Is it a gel or metal? If gel most likely glue, if metal most likely solder.

    Definitely appears to be metal like a weld, however if you look at the reverse you can see it (on each side of steps) die chips(?), letters next to the steps and the "ONE" is fused/melded with whatever this is.

    Could it be pieces of the machine, die, planchet or other metal welded/fused to this one?

    Glue or some other adhesive

    yup glue, can probly pick it off with your fingernail...

    Glue. Yucky, germ laden. lint attracting glue.
