    Strike through... I thought there were wire staples or wire brissles that would end up on a coin

    I think the general consensus is that these are from a wire brush used for cleaning.

    Thanks, feel stupid thinking strike through knowing that would have to be embedded in the coin, this looks like an upside-down triange slightly raised

    That may be the "general consensus" but it doesn't make it correct. I've yet to see a wire brush "bristle" that has the shape of a brad.

    I seriously doubt that this retained item is from a wire brush based upon the wire brushes I've seen.

    Whatever it is, though, it's very cool!
