Hi! I just got some coins from an uncle and I would like to know about this particular error. It seems that among these there was a 1960-D Quarter struck on a nickel planchet. What gets me to say its a nickel planchet is that it is deffinately not silver and it is thiker near the date area and also has a reeded edge there while near the LIBERTY area its is thinner and has no reeded edge. It must have expanded when the die struck it. It has a diameter of 7/8 in or 2.3 cm and as of weight I cant really tell because I have no means to weigh it right now. Is this just a common error or is it valuable? If so, what could it be worth? Thanks!

It looks like an authentic quarter struck on a nickel planchet. In uncirculated condition, an example this old would be worth several hundred dollars. Your specimen seems to have quite a bit of wear with a few dings to boot. So maybe $100 - $150?
