Hello everyone I've come across a 1960 LC.....it looks like it could be a D over D but I'm not sure....it is also very yellow....I will try to get more pics of the color if it means anything. I've weighed this 5 times with 5 other 1960 LC's and all the others weigh in at 3.1 Grams. Does anyone know why there is a weight difference between this and the others? Your thoughts are much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
It would be nice to know what the coin in question weighs!! Pictures are hard to see but maybe just PMD?
It weighs more? Seems like an D/D wouldn't add .02 grams of weight! Just my opinion. Been proven wrong before!

I would need better close ups of the MM to determine if it's an RPM. As for the weight, it is only very slightly overweight considering the allowable tolerance is .13 grams. Probably a planchet that was rolled slightly thick. This is so close to what is allowable that there wouldn't be any premium.
Ok I've searched every 1960 RPM until my eyeballs felt like they were going to pop out. There are a few that could be the one is have but I can't say that I'm 100% positive about that. Here are a couple more photos....this is the best I can do for now.....thanks for all of your thoughts and help! Notice to the left of the memorial towards the top on the last column it extends out a little bit......not sure what it is but I know it's not suppose to be there.........oh and it's raised and looks like melted candle wax or a drip but it's really neither one of those just the best description I could come up with...
The left side of the Memorial appears to have some die chips. As for the mint mark, I still can't tell from the pictures, but I do believe that I see split serifs. Is it the serifs you are talking about? I've almost driven myself to drink(more) trying to attribute 1960D RPMs.
Looks like some peeling/chipping of the surface in the first photos. Could be this was painted or plated at some time causing the yellowish color.
It looks like two hooks coming out from the bottom and the top on the backside of the D there is a small something in the middle that is facing east....yes I agree with you on the drinking! I just learned ALOT about the 1960 RPM's in an hour!
Man I wish you guys could see this in person it's so hard to get better photos....does anyone have any advice??
I think you've got a tilted RPM there, I just can't tell which one by the pics. Do you use a loupe? If so, hold the coin underneath a direct light source such as a table lamp so that the back of the "D" faces the light and see if you see splits in the serifs.

you can get a usb microscope for about $25 on ebay. mine has 2 light settings because sometimes to much light is a bad thing. then you can take good close ups
