Am i right about what the red book is listing a 1960 D over D for in price to grade? MS63 $200.00 MS65$300.00 Or am i seeing things. I opened a Fed roll today dated 1960 D writen on it. So i figure ok Ill crack it open and see whats in it. Not expecting to find anything worth while. and I end up findind not just 1 D over D but 6.. Look at the pics http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii261/Oldman1176/minisee0005.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii261/Oldman1176/minisee0004.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii261/Oldman1176/minisee0003.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii261/Oldman1176/minisee0002-2.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii261/Oldman1176/minisee0001-2.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii261/Oldman1176/minisee0000-2.jpg If those are the correct coins to price. I am haven a pretty good day. lol Off to the SLAB they go.
Those look like really nice RPM# 1's (D over D West)! The 1960-D/D Cents that you have, are not the Large Date over Small Date Variety listed in the Redbook and therefore your's is not worth anywhere near their' value! Keep looking though the coins, as this high dollar Variety is sometime hard to recognize but you might just have some. Also, check out the prices on Copper Coins at www.coppercoins.com as there are 160 RPM Varieties listed and I thnk that there is now around 200 known. For the Large Date over Small Date, you will have to search Doubled Die Obverse Varieties. Note: the prices on Copper Coins are generally low compared to actual sales of many Varieties but it gives you an idea. Frank
Yes, yours are D/D, but this is the one Redbook has at MS63/MS65 $200/$300 and huntsman53 is referring to (and look at where the 2nd D is on it, too): http://www.lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1960Dddo1.html
Oldman, Your coin is definately a Doubled Die. As to which one it could be one of many. If you look on CopperCoins as Huntsman stated it can be found. I looked for your coin using your pictures you provided. The cleaning of the die in your picture's indicate that the flow lines run E-W. It's hard to tell from the photo's vs. Coppercoins. A picture not so close would be a determing factor if you haven't already determined the Coneca number of the coin. Rhubarb
Nice finds man! I don't think you'll be getting rich off them but, being a little cautious,$15ish per coin is a reasonable ballpark I'd say.
