Im a sucker for good chips and cracks. I love finding them in the wild. This penny is rough but has some good ones! I cant tell if its a large date or small date. I realize with damage it makes it even harder. Any opinions on which one this might be?
Thanks Yolo! When you look at it, is it the "0" that you look at ? I have a bunch of these is bad shape but I want to separate them accordingly. Any tips???
I look at the 0 and the top end of the 6. Small date-D and large date -D Are common finds. The small date -P is scarce. Die Chip are very common on this date as they can be found on Obverse and reverse of same coin.
Wexlers wdd0-10 has similar "6" and "B" . I know its not it but its still cool to see how similar it can appear. The below is Wexlers pics.
Abe's cracked skull, as you call it, doesn't look like a die crack to me. It looks more like the beginning of a lamination peel. Please examine this more closely as you have it in hand. A die crack would be raised without a crack on one side. That looks like it was a crack and opened up into a lamination error.
Thank you. Will do. I have a bunch of these 1960d. One of them is in really good condition and was in a protector. I was hoping one might line up to be a DD but none of them have all the right stuff. They generally in poor condition. Seems like theres alot of DDs in this year and mint. Its going to take forever to go over it all. For now it just seems like lots of cracks/chips and maybe "peels" like you said.
