From the 50 cent bin of coins at the coin show yesterday... It was in the 2x2 marked as shown in the picture. Does anyone have any idea of what's going on here? I tried my best to get close up pictures. Is this a RPM or something like that? Thanks for the help.
Yes, it is an RPM (Re-Punched Mint Mark) - you might try matching it to John Wexler's site or the Variety Vista site, both have plenty of pictures. EDIT: I've been looking through the listings (out of boredom) and haven't seen one that matches. Since the pictures are a bit blurry, it's difficult to tell if I was totally correct in saying that it's an RPM. (It looked like one at first glance, but there are literally so many for this date/mm that I don't have them all memorized.) I'm just saying I'm leaving open the possibility that it's PMD and not an RPM. EDIT: Congratulations, looks like you found a match! 1960 D LMC RPM are pretty fun, along with the 1956 D's - you can usually find a few in a big bag of wheat cents.
Yes, it is an RPM. Judging by the looks of it, I'd say it is RPM-023. It's really nice, because it is a wide, clear separation and quite easy to see. Great purchase! http://varietyvista.com/02b LC RPMs Vol 2/1960DRPM023.htm
That's awesome, I'm very happy with it for 50 cents Here are better pictures. It looks similar to the LG 1960-D RPM-023 on Variety Vista. I will take a closer look for die cracks, etc. to better identify. Thanks!
I figured you cant go wrong for 50 cents! I actually have two more that are 1961 D which also were 50 cents each at the coin show. I will try to ID them myself and post afterwards! Coin show pickups yesterday: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/coin-show-pickups.382090/#post-7671471
I did my best identifying the other two. Thanks for the help! I now present my $1.50 RPM Set! 1961-D RPM-032 1961-D RPM-038 1960-D RPM-023
