[ sorry that the picture stinks, i sent the pic to my email and i only got this side D:, but the discoloring is the same on both sides. i would like to know an approximate grade and value, and i was wondering that if it is possible to clean this coin. -Mark
These are fairly common coins, and yours, 1960, is a fairly common date, not worth too much more than it's silver melt value. ***and NO, do not clean it, that could be a mistake.*** the Canada 1960 Silver Dollar coin has a mintage of 1,420,486. it is .800 fine silver with an Actual Silver Weight of .6 of an ounce, 6/10ths of an ounce of Silver. I am not good at all with grading Canadian coins, especially the ones of Elizabeth II, but it looks like it is aVF to Very Fine to me....
thanks, i figured that i shouldnt clean it, my father says to never ever clean a coin. but thanks that really helps
Yeah, the only time cleaning is somewhat accepted in the coin community is when it comes to ancient coins or coins that were buried or in a shipwreck, that sort of thing..... with alot of ancient Roman coins it is often expected that some of the coins are cleaned.
