1959 D Lincoln Cent---Strike damage or mechanical damage?

    Please see the images below--is this damage when the coin was minted or mechanical damage after?

    I'm not sure how it was done but I am sure it was done post mint.

    it almost looks like someone was trying to make a cast copy... early attempt by a future scammer??? :confused:

    What could explain the distinctly different surface from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock on the reverse near the rim ?

    Yep! this coin spent a LONG time in a commercial dryer!
