I was looking through some very nice toned unc. 1958D US pennies and found an unusual bent spikelet on the reverse of several coins. It is on the left side of the left wheat shaft, (2/3rds of the way up the wheat shaft). Is this unusual or just a freak insident? I have no way of taking a picture, but would appreciate any responses.

Like Daggarjon said without a picture it's mere conjecture. But from your description, and I'm assuming that a "spikelet" is a raised area of metal on the coin and that it's identical or nearly so on several coins. It could be a die gouge, break or some other die damage. The wheat cents from the 1950's are pretty well known for a multitude of damaged dies. This was due to the (at the time) huge mintages which led to a decline in quality control as the mint struggled to keep up with the demand for coinage.

But without a scan or photo I am just guessing based on your description and It could be something completely different.
