Just trying to learn here. I saw this on another site, and it's sparked my interest. It appears to be a "Vise Coin" but it's somewhat odd. The obverse-The Monticello strike is NOT incused but raised. Does it look incused on the reverse of the Cent? Hmmm. What was the description of what it was at the other site?

It looks to be attributed and in some kind of old style slab.

Cool find. It’s a half upside-down error. That’s because only one of the sides is upside-down. It’s worth 1/2 an upside-down error, which is both the sides are upside-down.

I'm thinking it was first a Nickel struck on a copper Cent Planchet then it was struck as a cent. Mint employee assisted "mint error"

This is a genuine cent struck by a pair of counterfeit 5c dies.

Much fun. Wish it had a date. Very special coin. I would show that coin to everone

Damn you Mike. I still love the coin. So sad. I do believe you

Belief shouldn't enter into it. The weak but complete 5c image and the soft, blended overlap between 5c details and the 1c design clearly indicate that the dies were counterfeit and composed of a relatively soft metal.
