Not sure if the scan will show the Doubling, not like it does in hand with a 30x loupe, but sure has me convinced.
On the majority of Doubled Dies, the error occurs on only one side of the coin, on this paticular coin, it is known to exist on the obverse, They believe that this coin may have never reached circulation, and the chances of one being found are virtually impossible. I can't really tell anything by the picture...
Wish I could see that coin in person, But I cant see anything on the pics,,, What elements of the design are involved in the doubling that you see ? 30 x is a lot of magnification can you see the doubling at 10x ? or without the aid of magnification ?
I can see it without the loupe, especially good with it though, To poor to buy a digital camera with zoom, let alone send it in to have it certified. Funny thing is, I've got two, one pictured is lavender toned, certain it grade pretty highly and the second one is more like unc. but has some darkening tone on the obverse and reverse, not much, but it exhibits better doubling on the obv. and rev. I hate being broke. I could try to e-mail you larger and better scans if you have an addy?
With more light you get brighter pics, you may get a clearer picture. from the pictures of the obverse it looks to have some doubling on the W in WE and on the R and U in Trust. On the reverse There seems to be clear doubling on the first S in states. Me as a beginner to this facinating and mind boggling hobby have learned that even the most seasoned experts still have a lifetime of learning and will pass long before they know it all.
If you want you can send an email to Ken Potter KPotter256@aol.com he is a leading expert in this field. Make sure you send him very clear closeups and if possible use a digital camera and use negative art and macro setting to take the pictures. He will tell you exactly what it is and what to do with it.
