The doubling on the letters and Lincoln’s face look amazing, but my husband still doesn’t see it, so at this point- I’m beginning to question what is right in front of me! I thank you in advance to anyone that takes the time to have a look and leave a comment!! 98CB50EC-C45A-461F-B7D1-D817E2EBD690.jpeg 88F77247-C361-4070-B839-64B4296CBED2.jpeg 17416081-2E67-4678-9060-680ED22C4F63.jpeg C15B8270-F740-4CC9-9EF4-1B26AE605F51.jpeg 6742B585-86F2-410D-B1CD-8229948FB3B6.jpeg 96F8EBF7-4526-4A4D-B087-F376D92549B1.jpeg FAC73E71-3B9E-450A-A803-0A6CEAFF874A.jpeg 08DDA58B-7FF4-4F00-B4F0-84D8F7030443.jpeg 28A561F2-3DAF-4F0D-A54D-3FADF5A385EE.jpeg 8BDB4342-E539-4F82-80D4-F7A7453626B3.jpeg

Probably minor die deterioration doubling. A issue that is caused with a worn die strike.
Considered worthless doubling. Nothing to do with a true Doubled die variety. :(

    IMHO

I can't tell anything from those pictures on my cell phone.

It might be well worth the effort and significant time to learn ALL EIGHT classes of Doubled Die. How each are created and what to look for. Plus die deterioration and mechanical doubling.

You'll learn a lot and won't need your husband to check your sanity ... I mean what you think you are seeing.

While you are at it learn that processed digital images "create" artificial things .... Its a "raw" vs "jpeg" discussion. So using a loop to look at coins is better than using a digital method.

Thank you! I definitely need to take more time studying instead of just trying to dive right in! This is one of the trickiest hobbies I’ve gotten in to! And I completely see what you’re saying about the image too! I go for the loupe (ALMOST!!) every time , have no clue why I didn’t grab it for this! I think since I took a few pics of just the coin- without the microscope- I still saw the same . Thanks again for the advice! I think I will put my 36 years of coin hoarding everything from the US to the Middle East aside and hit the books! Lol!! I’ve collected coins since my dad handed me my first proof set when I was 4! My husband thinks I am insane bc I would literally run in the street if I saw a coin, just for the sake of having it!! I even have my 4 year old screaming when he sees a penny on the ground!! I’m sure it’s quite entertaining to some wondering why I’m staring at their driveway to see if they dropped change out their car!! And to top it off- I have never once spent a coin in the last 15 years! Or let anyone who I’m with spend any!! Even fought with my mom in a store once!!‍♀️ And to think about that proof set my dad got me- I don’t even remember the silver coins! That copper penny stole all the glory!! Still does today!!

This illustration may help out when you believe you may have some doubled die effect on a coin.
As far as the doubled die on the 58 wheatie goes
the 58 no mint mark Philly is extremely doubled
from what I gather, and easy to spot. adie doubled.jpg

NAV or no added value doubling. Caused by a worn die.
