Hopefully you all can see it pretty clear. What do y’all think of this?

    I'm sure it's got a story.
    Post Mint Damage
Make up a story if you like :p

Maybe a distant cousin of a pirate testing the purity of the coin...like this one? :D
I'm sure that's what happened with this piece.
    That's my story.

It looks a lot like coins I used to dig out of jammed sorting machines.

I think everyone missed the obvious.

    Yes, it is a 1957 cent. :)

It’s damaged. Above the UN in UNUM on the reverse you can see displaced metal.

Somewhere out there are some squared off cents made for CubScouts making things about 10 years ago. Used a small carbon disc cutter wheel on a drill to cut them. Although I never did it on wheat cents .. I had *some* sensibility. lol

If it didn't have the ruff spots I'd say someone had a lucky scratch off ticket cent.
Maybe it quit being lucky and got put back into circulation.

Another thing that crossed my mind, I've heard people using copper cents to remove rust from blued items that go bang... something about the soft metal not causing damage and removing some rust.

Wow looks pretty close. I thank you. It’s keeper no matter what it is. :)

You could put it back in circulation and see if it ends up as another post here again.

Lol! Well it’s a shame someone intentionally damaged it. Otherwise it would have been a nice one. Some people just don’t think of it or a kid maybe. It’s been in a jar for 20 plus years. Maybe my dad did it lol!

    Consulting past history books :D
The biting of a gold coin would leave tooth impressions on a coin if pure. Was quick and easy way to test the purity of a coin. If the gold failed the “bite test” someone could be taking a long walk off a short plank.:p
