I received this dime from Brian. He's one dealer whom never lets me down, as I always get really nice coins from him. I suggest if you have not checked out his e bay store you should. Anyway Back to the dime once again I have found some very unusual things going on with this 1959 P Roosevelt. Lets start with yes it has MD in fact so bad the T is quadruple struck. It had a die break from the rim to the top of Roosevelt's head. The date has some doubling also but contains die chips. but look at the one image I'm not sure if it's a clash but behind Roosevelt's head you'll notice some strange things going on like little humps between the head and rim closer to the rim. I did the over lay and.....you tell me..... as I can see it maybe you can too.
No it's a double clash date and America some is incuse and some is not, enlarge the image you'll see an A and part of the date then the bumps I believe to be another part of the date. To see this best you need to roll the coin so the light shows the raised and incuse areas.
It's one of the wildest clashes I've ever seen! Letters from America and numbers from the date. The hump like are raised the letters are incuse . As you can see this coin took quite a few bounces by looking at the T as well as other letters. The doubling on his nose. Yes the die was near death as seen from the strike. Nevertheless yes machine doubling but very cool effects on the surfaces .
Tommy this coin took several bounces. I see an A , 6 that's an upside-down 9 other letters some full some broken. Depending on how the lighting hits the surface and the humps are raised, pretty heavy clashed .
Going g to re image this using another light source .The die crack run the entirety though the coin from the top down behind the ear, to the date.
